Minnesota Custom Newborn, Child, and Family Portraits by Pixelations Photography » Beautiful Custom Studio and Location Photography for your Family

Finally getting around to blogging this little cutie.  I visited newborn Leo’s house a couple of months ago for his first little photo shoot, and I could not have asked for a more adorable subject, and helper!

Baby Leo was a great sleeper for the session, and his Big Sister Jessa was so much fun to chat with!  I could tell she was super excited to have a Little Brother.  She joined us for a few photos!

Are they not adorable???  They’re going to be SUCH a wonderful set of siblings and I can’t wait to meet them again!

Love,

Christine

In the spirit of reviving my poor, neglected blog, I have joined a small group of photographers in the undertaking of a monthly photo challenge for the year of 2012. For each month, a color theme has been designated, and on the 26th of that month, every photographer in the group will post their themed images.  Instead of being presented with only my perspective of that month’s theme, you are presented with the perspective of the entire group, as at the bottom of our posts, we link to the next person in our circle of photographers, so that if you choose, you can keep clicking and see our very different visions of the same theme! Fun, right?

The theme for August is Rainbow Bright (any vivid bright colors).
This past couple of months have been one filled with thoughts of food as my husband and I have embarked upon a new diet and journey of fitness.  In addition to boxing, we’re now lifting and on an amazing diet that I would say hardly feels like a diet.  I won’t bore you with details (if you want details, send me a message :)), but I will say that instead of just aiming for a calorie deficit, it focuses on giving your body what it needs to put on lean muscle mass, which burns the fat, and I’ve now got some clearly defined abs.:D
Part of this wonderful diet has been to find new foods that will meet the needs of our bodies, in a healthy way, and in the process, I discovered an awesome blog/recipe site called The Epicurean Body Builder (http://epicureanbb.com).  This gal has some absolutely amazing recipes, and you would be shocked at how low in calories and fat this stuff is.

Meet the  Strawberry Brownie Cheesecake with Balsamic Syrup.  With only 200-some calories and only 3.3g of Fat, this is something you could easily say yes to.  My family, including my kids, LOVE it!  There are tons of cheesecakes we haven’t tried yet, but I’m making one a week for my husband and kids to enjoy, and hoping to convert some of these to dairy free for myself!

And this, to me, is a bright rainbow of food.

And there you have it! Next month’s theme is Black and White!  Subscribe to my blog to get instant notifications of future posts, and comments are very welcome! Keep the circle going! • Rhi - I saw this go up late last night and there I was with no cheesecake! Evil! Awesome pic! I seriously suck with the food shots.ReplyCancel

    • aplaceforphotographers - >:) Evil? Me? Yes I am :) Thanks Rhi! If it’s any consolation, I baked one again last night, and it has to chill in the fridge overnight, so no cheesecake here either! Of course, having Dairy Intolerance, cheesecake is never on my menu! But hopefully someday I’ll convert this recipe! ~ChristineReplyCancel

  • Rhi - Lol, I don’t know that converting it would be as tasty! Lol I have a milk intolerance but i will torture myself over a piece of cheese cake lol!ReplyCancel

  • aplaceforphotographers - My intolerance is too horrible for that, but trust me when I say that Tofutti is the most amazing substitute for cream cheese in cheese cake! I took a recipe on the back of some semi-sweet chocolate squares for chocolate cheesecake, and simply replaced the cream cheese with Tofutti – it was amazing! If I ever convert this one, I’ll let you know! :) They also have coconut milk yogurt now that I’m thinking will make an excellent substitute for the greek yogurt in the recipe.ReplyCancel

  • aplaceforphotographers - Hey Rhi!! I have a DF Cheesecake recipe for you!!! I just made it last night/tried it today and OMG.. like heaven. :) Enjoy! http://wearedairyfree.wordpress.com/2012/09/12/the-amazing-dairy-free-red-velvet-cheesecake-df/ReplyCancel

I have known, and photographed,  Michelle and her beautiful family for quite some time.  Her adorable and sassy little girl was one of my vendor shoot models!  So when Michelle contacted me for a photo shoot of herself and her beautiful sisters, I was very excited to meet them!

I love to see the similarities and differences between family members, both physically and in personality!  And if there’s one thing these ladies have a lot of, it’s personality.  We had a LOT of fun during this shoot!

I chose my favorite location for them, and this particular shoot is very special to me, because afterwards, the buildings you see in the background were torn down.  Check out some of my favorite images from the day, and remember these beautiful buildings with me.

Love,

Christine

The theme for July is Red, White, and/or Blue.  Very fitting!

This month, we took our annual family vacation, and the images I’m sharing in this post are all from our week up north at the Big Sandy Lodge & Resort.

This is my favorite dead tree. The day we were leaving to return home, this storm blew in across the lake, and while the storm was dark and menacing, the tree was lit up in the sunshine. (the storm then chased us all the way home, making for some white-knuckled driving)

This is Hunter, swimming in the pool. If we weren’t at the lake, we were at the pool!

My son Will (right) and his cousin, Lincoln (left). Our annual family vacation is always a time of bonding for these two. They were very quiet which is uncharacteristic of them. I found them playing together quietly in the bunk bed.

My niece, Sydney, giving me smiles. This is her first of many family vacations, and she was so much fun to snuggle and cuddle (and attempt to feed…).

I used my wide angle lens to capture the big, puffy clouds over the lake and resort. I really like the distortion from the wide angle here.

Our annual family photo. My parents are in the middle, my family on the left, and my brother’s family on the right.

The cabin/townhome we stayed in happens to belong to my parents, and is available for rent.  I know I’m biased, but it’s the most beautiful and modern “cabin” we’ve ever stayed in, and we’ve tried many places over the years.  It is enormous and hospitable, with every little convenience you would want, and the lake, beach, restaurant, and pool are all right there.  If you’re looking for a place to get away for a few days, check it out here!

That was my plug!

The theme for June is Pastel Rainbow.  As many colors as you want.

Well, I had no problem finding a rainbow this past month.  Will’s Birthday was at the end of May.  He turned 5, and all he wanted in the world was a bounce house.  So, we rented one.  Greatest. Birthday. EVER.  He bounced with very few breaks from 11am until almost 8pm.  His friends came over, his family came over, everybody bounced.  It was pure awesomeness.

So here are a couple of my favorite images, made pastel by the magic of Photoshop:

And since I love the original colors better, here is a little gem of all 3 of my boys playing together in the bouncy house – not one single fight all day.  Priceless.
